Working Drawings
Below you'll find a few examples of the style of working drawings I submit to the Shop floor.
As you'll notice I work to communicate the needs of each project as well as anything unusual the build crew needs to be aware of.
Note: You'll also notice if you read through the notes that there are a few jokes in there as well. Theatre is hard business and at times shop work can be grueling. I find it helps productivity if you can help your crew to enjoy their time in the shop.

To ensure the portal remained rigid and light weight, I used a combination of 1 1/4" Schd40 PVC as well as a few sections of 1 1/4" Schd40 Steel Pipe. The portal stayed rigid while the actors interacted with it and the use of PVC helped to keep costs down. HAIR! This image allows you to see the PVC, Steel Pipe, Tormentors and Custom Torm Clamps. The horizontal braces are made from two pieces of 1x4. This method was chosen over 2x4 so that we could have quick and easy 'half-laps' that allowed for a more seamless assembly of the header to the portal legs. HAIR! Since the prison bars were in line with the proscenium, I chose to make custom hardware that would clamp onto the 1 1/4" steel pipe of the portal and the 1 1/4" steel tormenters that are permanently mounted to the interior of the Proscenium.
